Fertility Specialist and Urologist Expand Griffin''''s Medical Staff Dr. Andrew Levi and Dr. Arnold Rivera are two of the latest physicians to join the Griffin Medical Staff.
Dr. Levi, a fellowship-trained reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He has received extensive training in advanced fertility treatments including in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other reproductive technologies. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgical techniques for anatomic fertility disorders and the treatment of complex reproductive endocrinology disorders including recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, and pelvic pain.
Dr. Levi attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed his internship and residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. His office is located at 999 Silver Lane in Trumbull. He can be reached at 203-375-2751.
Dr. Rivera comes to Griffin from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was a member of the Urologic Surgery Department. He has established his new practice, Southern Connecticut Urological Associates at Two Corporate Drive, Suite 240, in Shelton.
Dr. Rivera has an extensive background. He earned his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington DC. He served his internship and residency in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. During this time, Dr. Rivera became chief resident in urologic surgery focusing on general urology, laproscopic-endourology, and female reconstructive urology. Valley Project Access Distributes New Discount Prescription Drug Card
Valley Project Access is teaming up with a national organization, Physician Leadership Access Network, to launch a discount prescription drug card. The Physician¹s RX Care Card supports volunteer physician networks nationwide, like Valley Project Access, who donate medical services to underserved and uninsured people. The card can be used at 24 Valley area pharmacies and over 250 pharmacies in Connecticut, including our own Griffin Pharmacy.

11 Griffin Nurses Receive the Nightingale Award
The Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing is an annual program sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut. Recipients are chosen for exemplifying high standards in nursing care. Griffin is proud to have so many nurses chosen this year.

Griffin''''s annual Nurse Day celebration saw Trish DeGennaro of the Special Procedures Unit named Nurse of the Year. The Special Procedures Unit offers services such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, dressing changes, and therapeutic injections in a comfortable setting. As part of the celebration, Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a nephrologist, was named Physician of the Year. Nussbaum, highly regarded by nurses and physician alike, was cited for serving as an advocate of the Planetree philosophy for patients and their families. |

Employee Awards Dinner
On May 12, Griffin held the 35th Annual Employee Service Awards Dinner, honoring 114 employees and physicians with over five years of service. Sylvia Adams, Joseph Gingras and Krystyna Nyerick, M.D. topped the list, each observing 40 years of service to Griffin. Marie Brazee of the Medical Records Department was named Employee of the Year and the Critical Care Unit was named Department of the Year.
By popular demand, Griffin Idol returned to the stage. The competition was intense among the 12 talented contestants. Michele Crosby of the Laboratory singing "Out Here on My Own" broke through the crowd and catapulted her way to the top. All in all, it was a fun and memorable evening! |
