At Griffin Hospital’s Rapid Diagnostic Breast Center, we take care of all the details for you.
Breast cancer will affect 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. More than 1.6 million women are alive today due to early detection and prompt treatment. Routine mammography screening is the single most effective method to detect breast cancer long before symptoms appear. With early detection and prompt treatment, the survival rate is increased to 95% with early stage breast cancer. With odds like that, we want you to know your options sooner. The Rapid Diagnostic Breast Center offers convenient scheduling of mammograms and a soothing and healing environment designed to maximize your privacy.
We’ll make it easier for you
When you call our facility to schedule a mammogram after you or your physician have discovered an abnormality in your breast, your call is directly routed to the Rapid Diagnostic Breast Center Coordinator. Your mammogram appointment will be made promptly. When you arrive, you will be greeted by our Breast Center Coordinator who will stay with you throughout your visit and provide personalized care and management of your breast abnormality. If you wish, the Breast Center Coordinator will even stay with you 
while you are having further diagnostic tests. For your convenience, you may now request a mammogram appointment online.
If it is determined that your mammogram is abnormal, the Breast Center Coordinator will manage the next steps for you. All results will be communicated to your physician within 48 hours of your visit for most cases. Your additional diagnostic testing, biopsy, laboratory testing and additional physician and/or surgeon appointments will be made for you. The Breast Center Coordinator will also handle all necessary referral and insurance procedures and give you proper guidance in learning the breast self-exam procedure.

Griffin Hospital’s Mammography Suite consists of two state-of-the-art mammography units including the Mammomat 3000, a digital imaging unit that offers the highest resolution imaging (up to 64 times more) and better detail. Our staff consists of highly trained, state-licensed mammographers committed to making your appointment as anxiety free as possible. We offer patients a soothing and pleasing home-like environment where you can help yourself to a variety of teas, watch TV while you wait or relax and listen to music. The Center also utilizes the Mammotome vacuum-assisted breast biopsy system that is performed under stereotactic (dual) x-ray, designed to accurately diagnose breast cancer at its earliest stages.
We provide each patient individualized and specialized care that includes fine needle, core and surgical biopsies as well as state-of-the-art Mammotome stereotactic biopsy procedure.
The Center boasts a highly trained staff of griffin Hospital radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, nurses and state-licenses mammographers, sonographers and radiologic technologists all committed to the rapid diagnosis of your breast abnormality.
