CT Cardiac Scoring
CT Cardiac Scoring. CT Cardiac Scoring can be a useful tool in your cardiac assessment program. The test is performed using a high speed, multi-detector CT scanner that can assess the presence of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries even before systems appear.
In just 10 minutes, with no special preparation, the assessment of your coronary arteries is done. The test is non-invasive and requires no injections, fasting or running on a treadmill. A score is computed for each artery based upon the amount of calcium found.
CT Cardiac Scoring is now used as a screening tool to evaluate patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease. It is most often used for men over 40 years old and post-menopausal women. If you are concerned that you may have heart disease, ask your physician about having CT Cardiac Scoring.
