Laboratory Services

The Laboratory at Griffin Hospital is committed to accuracy and efficiency in providing test results for its patients. Lab services are provided for hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, therapeutic drug monitoring, bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, transfusion medicine, bloodbank, diagnostic serology, syphilis serology, surgical pathology, autopsy pathology and cytopathology.

The lab includes an in-house blood drawing station open

Monday through Friday 7am to 7pm

Saturday 7:00 am to 12pm

    Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    The lab is closed Wednesday.

The Griffin Hospital Laboratory dedicates itself to providing comprehensive,high-quality laboratory services to the communities, physicians and patients it serves. We believe that each patient should be treated as an individual whose laboratory testing forms an integral part of his or her total medical care. By providing state-of-the art testing, integrated medical records, consultation, and outstanding customer service, Griffin contributes to the quality, access, continuity, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. The Laboratory has been certified by the College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks, and the Food & Drug Administration for over 20 years.

Rapid Access to All Patient Test Results

Through the new Patient Care Inquiry (PCI) system your physician can access all test results performed by the Griffin Hospital Laboratory regardless of whether the patient was seen as an inpatient, in the emergency room or in your office. Same Day Reporting for Routine Test Orders

Results for chemistry profiles, blood counts and other routine testing will be provided on a same day basis for specimens collected in the morning and by the next morning for specimens collected in the afternoon. Reports will be provided by the PCI system, automated fax or rapid courier delivery-the choice is your physicians.

Three-Hour Stat Test Results-Guaranteed

Office Stat orders will be given the highest priority with test results to you within three hours of receipt of the order-at no additional charge. Every effort will be made to provide faster stat turnaround time when requested.

Griffin Laboratory Dedicated Specimen Transport

Griffin has dedicated couriers to provide prompt courier services to meet your practice needs. Specimen pickup times will be arranged to coordinate with your office hours and test result requirements. Stat and evening pickup is also available.

Griffin couriers are highly valued employees who have been trained to provide professional and courteous courier service. Monthly education meetings conducted by our pathologists and technical staff assure that our couriers understand the necessity for appropriate handling and delivery.

Surgical Pathology and Cytology Specimens

Griffin Pathology Consultants (GPC,PC) are a group of highly trained pathologists whose expertise includes the full range of surgical pathology and cytology subspecialties including cervical-vaginal cytology, oral pathology and podiatric pathology.

Patients With Special Needs

Patients who cannot afford laboratory procedures or tests can be referred to a Financial Advisor to determine their needs by calling 732-7375. A representative will be assigned to help. Patients can call for an appointment with the Financial Advisor the day of their physician's office visit or prior to the office visit.

Customer Service

Griffin takes a proactive and comprehensive approach to meeting your service needs. By Telephone Griffin's customer service department provides courteous, professional telephone communication for all your laboratory needs. In addition to providing rapid test results, our staff will answer questions about specimen requirements, test orders and status and report requests, and assist you with courier service requirements.

Even in the best systems, problems and challenges arise-or you may simply need a new or different service. Your Griffin Laboratory representative, the Laboratory Manager and our Laboratory Director are available to assist you at any time.

Cost Competitive Fees/Convenient Billing Options

Griffin offers a cost-competitive fee schedule with convenient billing options. Medicare/Medicaid, HMO's third-party payors and patients will be billed with your provision of appropriate billing information. Contact our Customer Service Representative at 732-7280.

The lab is inspected and certified by the College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks and the Federal Bureau of the FDA. The Lab is also a member of National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards.
