Surgical Services
There are many choices of experienced surgeons and technology at Griffin. They offer techniques such as minimally invasive surgery for colon and breast cancer, plus back and neurological surgery using the Stealth Image Guided Surgery System, and orthopedic surgery such as hip replacement and knee injuries. Also minor surgical procedures, such as hernias and vericose vein removal, are accommodated through our Same Day Surgery Department. Please consult your physician for more information.
The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center offers a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and support services for the care of non-healing wounds. The Center, one of few in Connecticut, operates two hyperbaric chambers to deliver 100% pure oxygen to treat a variety of illnesses including problem wounds and also adverse effects of radiation and carbon monoxide poisoning. For many patients with conditions such as diabetes or poor circulation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is beneficial in the healing process. 203-732-7140
The Cardiac Services Program offers a range of non-surgical alternatives for people with heart disease, including those who may have had a heart attack, undergone bypass surgery, angioplasty or have angina. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to provide a structured-supportive environment in which persons with a heart condition can safely exercise to restore normal physical activities. 203-732-7106
The Department of Physical Medicine at Griffin incorporates physiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. Therapists treat pediatric to geriatric patients. Programs in physical medicine include extensive orthopedic and neurological treatment, a urinary incontinence program, an osteoporosis program, prosthetic and orthotic fitting and training, wound care, posture screenings, isokinetic testing and rehab, and balance and fall prevention. 203-732-7445
The Special Procedures Unit offers services such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, dressing changes and therapeutic injections in a comfortable setting. The unit is open Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. 203-732-7200
EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) is a non-surgical therapy that can reduce the symptoms of chest pain or angina pectoris, presumably by increasing coronary blood flow in ischemic areas of the heart. 203-732-7176
The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit has incorporated Planetree's healing environment which includes the elimination of barriers between patients and staff, the use of familiar furnishings and finishes to reduce anxiety, an emphasis on nature, natural light and the arts to lift the spirit, the creation of comfortable public spaces to encourage social interaction. The new unit offers private and semi-private rooms, a residential style kitchen, a lounge, and a large salt water aquarium. Traditional therapeutic approaches that include individual and group therapy are enhanced with complementary services such as patient education, aroma therapy, arts and entertainment and journaling. 203-732-7550
The Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Center provides a comprehensive approach to the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Accurate diagnosis, early treatment, careful monitoring and attention to any changes in symptoms are the foundation for effective medical management of your condition. Headed by Dr. Granache, a nationally-recognized neurologist, the MS Center utilizes some of our more innovative programs including sleep wellness, stress management and alternative therapies. 203-732-1290
