Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care and Education Department at Griffin Hospital is dedicated to providing quality religious and spiritual support for our patients, their families and our staff along with supporting community clergy in their ministries to our patients.
A clinically trained chaplain and CPE supervisor coordinate the department and offer services 24-hours a day, seven days a week to persons of all faiths. Weekly interfaith chapel services are offered each Wednesday at noon. Other religious services are also offered to recognize specific Holy Days of various faiths. The chapel is always open for prayer and meditation.
The Pastoral Care Department is also affiliated with the Health Care Chaplaincy of New York, a Multi-Faith Education and Research Center serving greater Manhattan, Westchester County and western Connecticut. The Clinical Pastoral Education programs are fully accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral, Inc.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Griffin is offered two times each year - a full time summer unit (June - August) and a part time extended unit (September - April.) For an application or information, please call Chaplain Jo Clare Wilson at (203) 732-1100 or email jcwilson@griffinhealth.org
In addition to the religious/spiritual care and CPE education, the Pastoral Care Department also employs a part time nurse to coordinate the Valley Parish Nurse Program. All inquiries about the Valley Parish Nursing can be directed to Daun Barrett, R.N. at (203) 732-7584.
