Mammography

With its own private suite, the Mammography Department at Griffin Hospital offers patients a soothing and homelike environment where we do whatever necessary to make your visit as anxiety-free and comfortable as possible.

Griffin Hospital’s Mammography Department is MQSA (Mammography Quality Standard Act) and ACR (AmericanCollege of Radiology) accredited. Be assured that you will receive exceptional attention from our highly trained and professional staff of board certified Radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, state-licensed mammographers, and sonographers. We are committed to providing you with an accurate and rapid diagnosis.

In order to provide each patient with individualized and specialized care, we use only the best breast imaging equipment available. This includes two state-of-the-art mammography units, one of which is the Siemens Mammomat 3000 partial field, digital imaging unit. This system offers high resolution, digital imaging that provides up to 64 times more information and better detail than standard analog breast imaging. The Siemens Digital Mammomat 3000 is always used during breast biopsies to provide optimal conditions for this type of procedure.

For patients needing breast biopsies (stereotactic or breast lesion localization), the department utilizes a vacuum-assisted breast biopsy system. Fine needle and core biopsies as well as ductograms are also performed in the Mammography department.

If you have had a mammogram at another facility, be sure to bring your films to Griffin Hospital so that our Radiologists will be able to compare your mammogram done here with your previous mammogram.

In keeping with the Planetree Model of Care, the Mammography Department offers both music and aromatherapy to provide you with a comforting environment for your examination. To help you relax, television and a selection of soothing herbal teas are available. On scheduled days, you may also choose to take advantage of a complimentary head and neck massage either before or after your mammogram is performed. Complimentary valet parking is offered to all outpatients who use Griffin Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Services. This program is offered Monday through Friday. Routine outpatient appointments are available in the evening as well as on the weekends.
