Griffin Hospital's patient focused philosophy of care uses a primary nursing model, where the primary nurse is responsible for coordination of nursing care throughout a patients' stay. Other elements of this include a patient care conference early in the hospitalization in which the physician, primary nurse, patient and family discuss the plan of care and goals for the hospital stay. The house staff is encouraged to participate in the patient care conference and become an integral part of this focused care model.
