Zandra Cheng, MD, FACS

Dr. Cheng joined the staff of Griffin Hospital as Medical Director of the Griffin Hospital Center for Breast Wellness in August 2010. She is board-certified in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is accredited in breast ultrasound by the American Society of Breast Surgery. Dr. Cheng comes to Griffin from Annapolis, Maryland, where she has spent the past six years at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, one of only 33 accredited breast surgery fellowships programs in the country, serving the needs of more than 500 breast cancer patients annually. While there, she completed her breast surgery fellowship, joined the Medical Center staff as an attending breast surgeon, and served as faculty for the fellowship program. She has extensive experience with oncoplastic surgical techniques, cryoablation of breast tumors, and positron emission mammography.

Ihor N. Ponomarenko, MD, FACS
PriMed Surgical Specialists

Dr. Ponomarenko is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in surgical oncology. His surgical interests are in general surgery with particular interest in laparoscopic surgery and surgical oncology. He performs laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and all forms of laparoscopic hernia repair. He is an expert in treating cancers of the breast, colon, thyroid, skin, stomach and pancreas. Currently, he is the division chief of General Surgery and is the Cancer Liaison Physician for the The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital.

Leland J. Soto, III, MD, FACS

Dr. Soto is a board-certified general surgeon. His surgical interests are in general surgery with emphasis on breast disease and advanced laparoscopic surgery (including hernia, cholecystectomy, Nissen fundoplication, adrenalectomy, splenectomy and laparoscopic colorectal surgery). Dr. Soto performs the "scarless" single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for gallbladder disease. He is Secretary/Treasurer of the Griffin Hospital Medical Staff.
