DERBY, CT (January 5, 2006) - Total Benchmark Solutions has named Griffin Hospital as one of the recipients of its Top 100 Quality Award for 2004. The award is based on analysis of data related to Heart Attack Care, Heart Failure Care and Pneumonia Care provided to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by U.S. hospitals for the period January to December 2004. Griffin Hospital ranked 12th nationwide of the 2,053 hospitals reviewed.

"Based on our analysis of the CMS data, Griffin Hospital has clearly demonstrated its abilities as a top quality performing hospital for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia care" stated Bradley Petersen, Chairman of Total Benchmark Solutions. "We commend you on your exemplary performance on these quality measures and your position as one of the top performing quality hospitals in the Nation."

Total Benchmark Solutions is one of the leading providers of benchmarking and consulting services for healthcare organizations throughout North America. Its vision is to be the industry standard for benchmarking the cost, staffing, quality and satisfaction of healthcare.

The CMS Hospital Compare website allows consumers to research hospital quality information on 18 different measures for three most common and costly medical conditions ? heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. The measures monitor performance on medical practices that can improve the medical condition and quality of life of patients. For example: patients receiving pneumonia vaccine before discharge have a 43% less chance of being hospitalized again and 29% less chance of dying from pneumonia; heart attack patients prescribed an ACE inhibitor before discharge have a 27% less chance of having another attack.

"Griffin Hospital's recognition by Total Benchmark Solutions is testament to the efforts of Griffin Hospital's staff and physicians to achieve the highest level of clinical care and best patient outcomes" said Patrick Charmel, Griffin President. "Achieving a national leadership position on these measures requires teamwork, coordination and the development of systems, which have consistently been Griffin's strengths. On behalf of those we serve, I extend my thanks to all involved for this important achievement" said Charmel.
