Interventional Radiology

Getting a clear view.

Interventional Radiology is a sub-specialty of Radiology providing minimally-invasive, targeted treatments performed using imaging for guidance. Interventional Radiologist can perform a wide variety of procedures from venous access to specialized cancer treatments.

The concept behind Interventional Radiology is to diagnose and treat patients using the least-invasive techniques currently available, in order to minimize risk to the patient and improve health outcomes. These procedures have less risk, less pain and less recovery time in comparison to open surgery. Examples of procedures include but are not limited to:

Services

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)

UFE is a safe, effective, non-surgical treatment for fibroids using a minimally-invasive procedure resulting in a small puncture in the skin. UFE works by blocking the blood supply to the fibroid, causing it to shrink and become inactive.

Vertebral Augmentation

Vertebral Augmentation is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure used to treat the pain associated with spinal compression fractures caused by osteoporosis, metastatic tumors or trauma.

Epidural Steroid Injection

Epidural steroid injection helps reduce the inflammation of nerves, minimizing neck, shoulder, arm and back pain. It is a temporary form of relief that allows the body to begin to heal itself.

Therapeutic Joint Injection

Steroid injection helps reduce the inflammation of nerves, minimizing joint pain.

Central Venous Catheters & Ports

A CVAC is a tube that is inserted beneath your skin so there is a simple, pain-free way to give you nutrients or draw your blood.
