DESCRIPTION: \n\nJoin us for the 18th Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital!\nSaturday, October 24\nDay-of Registration: 7:30 a.m.\nEvent Start: 9 a.m.\nThe Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital\n350 Seymour Ave., Derby\nThis non-competitive, family-friendly draws walkers and runners from all over the Lower Naugatuck Valley to raise funds that help ease the financial burden Griffin’s cancer patients face as they undergo treatment. Participants can walk or run individually, form a team with their family, friends and co-workers, and collect pledges and payments. Awards will be presented to the top fundraising team and the top fundraising individual at the event.\nThe 5k Walk/Run was started by the caregivers of the Cancer Center as a way to raise funds to purchase wigs for patients. The first Walk/Run exceeded expectations drawing over 250 participants and raising more than $25,000, providing opportunity for additional financial support for patients as they undergo cancer treatment. The 5K has drawn thousands of participants over the years and raised more than $970,000 to help support local cancer survivors in its 17-year history.\nRegistration is $35 and includes a t-shirt. The registration fees will increase by $5 after Oct. 5. Pre-registration is encouraged at griffinhealth.org/5k.\nSponsorships\nSponsorship opportunities include signage at the event, logos on the event promotional materials and T-shirts, recognition from the stage, and the opportunity to have a table to distribute products at the event.
