Why You Should Contribute to Griffin’s 403b Retirement Account

Griffin Hospital’s 403(b) plan is designed for employees to begin saving for retirement through tax-free payroll contributions. Why should you contribute? First, it’s almost completely painless. It takes very little time to sign up and start contributing to the 403(b), and money is automatically deducted from your paycheck, so you basically get on the path to a more financially secure retirement without much work. Second, it’s basically free money. Griffin Hospital implemented a match of up to a 1% for those employees who contribute up to 3% of your weekly contribution, therefore, if you are not taking advantage of the match, you can be missing out on hundreds of retirement dollars each year. Third, employees who do not contribute to a 403(b) plan are losing the tax advantage of pre-tax savings.

In addition to the match, this past October, Griffin Hospital started providing all full-time and regular & casual part-time employees with a 403(b) contribution equal to 2% of their base salary. For employees who don’t have a Transamerica 403(b) account already set up, the core contribution is put into a T Rowe Price Target Date Fund chosen based on your assumed retirement age of 65.
