3 Simple Tips to Sneak Activity into Your Day

If you’ve fallen flat on past New Year’s resolutions to go to the gym every day or jog more often, don’t worry – you’re not alone. But if you follow these quick-tips, you might find it a little bit easier to increase your fitness in 2017:

  1. Park your car at the far end of the lot - Save yourself the stress of searching for the most prime parking and park in the spot that is furthest away to sneak in extra steps without even realizing it. Remember: Health experts recommend 10,000 steps a day for improved well-being!
  2. Take the stairs - Take the stairs whenever you get a chance – especially Griffin Hospital’s Planetree Stairwell that features carpeting, inspirational artwork on the walls and high-energy music.
  3. Track your steps (or have someone else do it) - Holding yourself accountable is one of the best ways to reach a goal. Having someone else hold you accountable is even better. Set a daily goal and track your steps via pedometer, smart phone app, Fitbit, Apple Watch, or whatever other gadget works for you. Most importantly, tell a friend or family member about your goal, and ask them to bug you about it every day. You wouldn’t want to disappoint them now, would you?
