Griffin Health opened The Hewitt Observation Unit at Griffin Hospital to expand the hospital’s capacity to care for patients who require an extended period of assessment and evaluation before a determination can be made whether to admit the individual for inpatient acute care or to discharge the patient.

The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at Griffin Hospital is looking for volunteers to provide additional support for elderly patients. Griffin will host a HELP training session on Fridays, Feb. 17 and 24 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Griffin Hospital is raising skin cancer awareness and helping individuals protect themselves and their loved ones with free facial skin screenings at The Center for Cancer Care, 350 Seymour Ave., on Thurs., Dec. 15.

The Griffin Hospital School of Allied Health Careers, at 300 Seymour Avenue, Suite 206 in Derby, is accepting applications for the 2023 winter semesters of its Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant (MA), and Patient Care Technician (PCT) programs. The accelerated CNA and MA programs starts Jan. 9, and Phlebotomy and PCT will begin Jan. 10.
