By Janet Maurice on 5/6/2015

Griffin Hospital is offering free facial skin cancer screenings and a free talk about skin cancer signs, symptoms and how you can stay safe this summer on Wed., May 21 in the hospital’s Meditation and Learning Center, 130 Division Street, Derby.

Nurses from Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach and Parish Nurses Program will provide skin cancer facial screenings from 5-6 p.m. and Dr. John F. Reilly will present “Stay Sun Safe” at 6 p.m.

Individuals must register for the screenings and they will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional screenings may be available after the talk, but there is no guarantee. To register, call 203-732-1511 or visit the calendar at griffinhealth.org.

The talk is open to everyone and no registration is required.

Dr. Reilly will lead an easy-to-understand discussion on skin cancer and how to protect yourself while enjoying time outside. In addition to being Chief of Plastic Surgery at Griffin Hospital, Dr. Reilly is an advocate for skin cancer prevention and part of a select group of physicians with Board of Medical Specialty Certification in both plastic surgery and general surgery.

The talk is part of Griffin Hospital's Healthy U education series, which features Griffin Hospital medical experts and community partners providing trusted health information and answers to questions on a wide range of topics. Light refreshments will be served.
