Dr John Aversa Jr is a colon and rectal surgeon who has been in practice since 2008. He received his General Surgery training at the Hospital of Saint Raphael’s in New Haven Connecticut and his training in both Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. He is board certified both Colon and Rectal Surgery and General Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgery.
Dr. Aversa specializes in the surgical treatment of diseases of the small intestine, colon, rectum and anus including: colon cancer, rectal cancer, anal cancer, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
He has extensive experience in the techniques of minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery including: robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and TAMIS (trans anal minimally invasive surgery)
Dr. Aversa is currently the Chief of Robotic Surgery at Griffin Hospital in Derby Connecticut. He is a member of multiple numerous surgical societies including: the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ASCRS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (NESCRS)
