DERBY, CT (October 21, 2013) - The Women and Heart Disease Committee is seeking nominations for the Caring Heart Awards presented each year to an individual and a community organization in recognition of initiatives that support, promote and improve the general health and well-being of the Greater Lower Naugatuck Valley community.
Nominations should be mailed to Daun Barrett, c/o Valley Parish Nurse Program, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT. 06418. Nominations must be received by November 15, 2013 to be eligible.
The awards will be announced in December and presented on February 6, 2014 during the 8th Annual Heart Disease Dinner and Awards Program, held in conjunction with National Heart Disease Awareness Month.
The Women and Heart Disease Committee is co-chaired by Barrett and Dee Klingamen, of Oxford, and consists of healthcare professionals, heart patients and women from throughout the Valley communities. The primary focus of the group is to increase heart disease awareness among women, empower them to love and save their hearts, and ensure they are provided the means to do so through education and rehabilitation. Membership is open to all interested persons.
