That’s It, Learn To Quit

Griffin Hospital’s Free Smoking Cessation Class

Have you tried to quit smoking more than once but have not been able to quit for good “yet?” Don’t be discouraged; Griffin Hospital offers free smoking cessation classes throughout the year for anyone ready to quit smoking.

You’re not alone!

According to a study by the American Lung Association, 6 out of 10 former smokers are not able to quit on their first try and require multiple attempts to quit smoking for good.

Quitting smoking is hard.

It’s hard because of the brain’s dependence on nicotine and years of behaviors that developed into habits in response to the nicotine addiction. Often smokers are unaware of the potential damage years of smoking can cause. In addition to our Learn to Quit program, Griffin Hospital offers a comprehensive Lung Cancer Screening programfor those who qualify. Learn more about Lung Cancer Screening here.

Yes, you can learn to quit smoking, here’s how:

“That’s It, Learn to Quit” is a new smoking cessation program offered by Griffin Hospital. The goal of the program is to help you learn how to quit. Did you know you have option? There are different methods of quitting and managing nicotine withdrawal. If one method didn’t work in the past, there are others to try.

Through group discussions and interactive activities, you will learn how to develop a “quit-plan” that addresses your own personal behaviors and habits. Strategies to manage nicotine withdrawal, behaviors, triggers and urges are all discussed, as well as weight control and stress management. The program meets once a week for five consecutive weeks.

Come learn with, and from others just like you. And be sure to praise yourself for previous attempts. Each one brings you closer to your goal and the next one could be your last.
