It’s all about community.

As a proud member of the Naugatuck Valley community, Griffin Hospital works in tandem with other community organizations to strengthen our citizens, encourage positive relationships, facilitate ongoing wellness and provide ongoing support to those in needs. Below is a list of the local organizations we sponsor throughout the year.

The Naugatuck Valley Community Corporate Cup

The Naugatuck Valley Community Corporate Cup is a community-sponsored program for businesses and organizations in the Lower Naugatuck Valley that encourages a commitment to health, fitness and wellness. Employees compete in a series of competitions that promote activity and camaraderie, including the competition’s signature event, Healthy Teams, where teams of two work to improve their health measurements and receive wellness education programs through Griffin Hospital over the course of three months. Griffin Hospital is proud to be a premier sponsor of this program and partner with the Valley United Way and the Valley YMCA in promoting health and wellness in our community. The Center for Cancer Care sponsors the event’s cancer survivorship activities including the Survivor and Caregiver Celebration, Survivors’ Luncheon and Hope Tent as sign of its commitment to supporting and celebrating survivors in the community. Griffin Hospital has been a longtime supporter and sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Greater New Haven Heart Walk. The Heart Walk is a fun family event where participants can walk to celebrate heart health or recommit to taking better care of themselves. Griffin Hospital employees form teams to encourage each other and their families to get active and the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation patients reconnect at the walk and reaffirm their dedication to lifestyle changes that can prevent future heart issues. Valley United Way Annual Community Campaign

Griffin Hospital employees generously make one-time donations or have sign up for recurring payroll deductions to support the Valley United Way. The United Way works to improve the quality of life for people living and working in the Valley by funding programs and organizations that make a measurable difference and Griffin Hospital is proud to help in this goal. Holiday Wonderland of Trees

The Holiday Wonderland of Trees is a fundraiser at Griffin Hospital where different departments decorate Christmas trees with creative, festive themes in order to fundraise for The Spooner House. The trees are displayed in the main hospital corridor, and everyone is able to vote for their favorite tree by purchasing raffle tickets. Through these contributions, we help Spooner House continue to provide much-needed assitance and quality services to children and families in CT.
