Highway to Health is an 8-week lifestyle change program designed to empower individuals to take ownership of their health with lifestyle medicine knowledge and skills.
Lifestyle Medicine is a unique medical specialty that focuses on using evidence-based approaches in healthy eating, managing stress, enhancing regular physical activity and restorative sleep, and fostering meaningful social connections and support systems. All of these lifestyle factors help prevent and manage chronic conditions to dramatically improve one’s quality of life.
Highway to Health provides an entry level educational experience that focuses on a variety of lifestyle medicine topics:
Week 1- Introduction to Lifestyle Medicine
Week 2 – Introduction to Exercise Principles
Week 3 – Nutrition, Food Labels and an Introduction to the Mediterranean Diet
Week 4 – Introduction to Culinary Medicine
Week 5 – Mindfulness and Behavior Change with an introduction to Yoga
Week 6 – Stress and How It Affects Us
Week 7 – Sleep Hygiene and Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Week 8 – Social Connection and Why It Is Important
The program is led by Exercise Physiologist Bern Fitzsimons C-EP and Griffin Center for Healthy Living Director Michael Desjardins and will include trusted information and instruction from Griffin health experts.
