The focus of this support group is to support the patient trying to cope with how the diagnosis of cancer and cancer treatment is impacting their life, particularly helpful for the patient who is receiving chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. At these meetings, participants have the opportunity to share information, offer encouragement and learn coping techniques for people affected with this condition.

Issues addressed include motivation, challenging negative and self-sabotaging behaviors, body image, depression, addiction issues, and others. Meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month. The 2 Mile Walk was joined by a 5K Road Race for the first time in 2009, and it is now a regular part of the Corporate Cup and the Valley YMCA Sunset 5K Road race & 2 Mile Walk. The race will be held at the John G. Prendergast School in Ansonia and is a relatively flat course.
