Understanding Nutrition Labels

Learn why the nutrition labels on food are important to healthy eating and how they can inform you about what is going into your meals with a free cooking demonstration at The Griffin Center for Healthy Living. Registered Dietitian Becca Cretella will explain how to read a nutrition label, portion indications and what to look for when preparing ingredients. Chef Michael Rizzio will then demonstrate how to make a tasty, low-sugar BBQ sauce from scratch and how to customize the sauce’s flavor profile with little to no sugar. Participants can test the sauce on chicken skewers and vegetables.
