NEW HAVEN, CT (October 8, 2009) - Acclaimed tenor Roberto Iarussi will be the featured entertainer at the Griffin Hospital Autumn Elegance 2009 "Gala of the Century". The gala will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Southern Connecticut State University's Lyman Center for Performing Arts and the Michael J. Adanti Student Center ballroom in New Haven, and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hospital.

The ceremony is open to individuals and families who have experienced an early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or newborn death.

Center for Cancer Care to Host Cooking and Nutrition Program

DERBY, CT (September 22, 2009) - The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital is offering a free four-week Cooking and Nutrition program that focuses on the unique nutritional needs of cancer patients. The program, which combines cooking demonstrations with discussions on nutrition and overall health, begins October 7 continues over the next three Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Center's conference room.

DERBY, CT (September 21, 2009) - Over the last couple of decades more and more attention is being given to the benefits of complimentary medicine and the positive impact it has on healing. As part of the Planetree model of care at Griffin Hospital, patients are offered a full menu of complimentary services that are provided by a dedicated corps of volunteers and staff. Among those services is Therapeutic Touch (TT), an adaptation of several healing practices in which the practitioner uses his/her hands to facilitate healing through a process of energy exchange, enabling patients to focus their energy toward recuperation.
