The Digital/Film Library supports the physicians, technologists, referring physicians, and patients who frequent the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Griffin Hospital. It is located on the Ground Floor in the Radiology Department, and all diagnostic imaging exams are stored digitally on the Hospital’s PACS system. Images are archived and retrieved on an on-going basis and the staff has immediate access to all studies performed at the Main Campus, HCBW and our Diagnostic Imaging Center at Ivy Brook. The Digital/Film Library is a safe, secure and HIPAA compliant department that provides its customers, doctors and patients with the services of obtaining CD/films in an expeditious manner.
The Digital/Film Library standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Patients may request a CD of their images by calling (203) 732-7264. Patients should indicate their name, date of birth, and the type of films that they are requesting for pick up as well as the pickup date required. For patients who do not call ahead to request a CD/DVD pickup, there may be a slight delay in processing your request.
Copies of all exams performed after December 2005 can be released to the patient on CD/DVD at no charge. Patients are asked to bring a photo I.D. with them and they will need to sign an authorization form in order to pick up their copies. The Radiology Department's CD/film sign-out policy is strictly enforced due to designated HIPAA regulations.
Patients who are not able to pick up their CDs in-person and choose to send in a designee should be advised that the designee is required to have Power of Attorney, Medical Records Authorization, or written authorization by the patient in order to pick up the CD/DVD. Written authorization can be a provided by the patient in the form of a signed note. This note needs to contain the name of the designee and that they are authorizing this person to pick up the CD/DVD in their absence. The patient should sign this piece of paper and instruct the designee to bring it to the hospital and provide it to the Digital/Film Library staff. The designee will also be required to show a photo I.D. and to sign the release authorization in order to sign out CDs. The Radiology Department’s CD/film sign-out policy is strictly enforced due to designated HIPAA regulations.
In an effort to provide our patients with the best possible care, including accurate and timely results, we request that all prior breast imaging not performed at Griffin Hospital be made available to our Radiologists on the day of your appointment. Comparison of relevant priors, especially mammograms, is extremely important in breast imaging.
If you need assistance in getting your prior films/CDs or have questions on how to proceed, please allow us to provide help.
Contact our Digital/Film Library at 203-732-7264 for assistance. We can guide you through the process of obtaining your images or you can sign and return the provided release form, and we can request the images on your behalf.
CDs that are provided to patients do not need to be returned to Griffin Hospital.
